As we look deeper into the science of our perceived reality the possibilities of the multiverse expand. The theory states for every possibility there is a corresponding reality. Universe 351 is based off this concept while staying close enough to our reality to support commentary on the world we live in today. For U351 there are many major differences; the dark ages never occurred giving rise to advanced systems in mathematics, economics, social, and sciences. This also hindered the rise of religion in the western world.
A number of major events remained the same until the formation of the american states union or ASU. The ASU includes Canada, North america, and south america making them an early world power. This doesn't guarantee that a number of world changing events don't occur but the timing and roles of the players in these events are fundamentally different from our own.
Lets start with the american revolution which on earth 351 is classified as the first world war. The conflict began over trade embargoes enacted after a rise in pirating of highly value goods. The royalty of Europa ( The unification of the majority of Europe and the middle east) refused to increase its military presence in its territories. This prompted the ASU to increase security in controlled waters and the enacting of a number of major embargoes on goods circulating between the then allied empires. At the same time large amounts of goods exported form the Asian empire ( encompassing all countries currently considered to be in Asia of our reality) slowed to the ASU. Major profiteers across nations began breaking cease fire agreements that cemented the prosperity of the naval trade market using the pirate attack as a scapegoat. Tensions rise and major conflicts break out between the empires themselves resulting in a full on war. Europa gains the aid of Africa while the Asian empire backs the ASU. Europa brokered deals to colonize the southern parts of Africa (sound familiar) and Asia began colonizing rural areas in the ASU. This was also around the time that Canada solidified its rocky relationship with the rest of the ASU bolstering movement towards a tri-partisan governing system.

During the conflicts, which in the latter days occurred across western north america into southern Canada, A number of African and Europian people were taken as slaves to aid Asia's colonization. Europa eventually withdraws because of the lax support of the African empire; who benefited if either side won the conflict.
